For those who have to entertain your children we are here to help. We will have some fun things to do on Wednesday's. Insteadd of lunch time love,bring them in for our Children's crafts. Lots of foam and glitter and paint and fun things to make. It will be from 12-4 set up upstairs. The cost between $1.00 and $5.00. So put as as a weekly activity. They will love it and so will you. No glue on your hands, no paint on your walls and no clean up of the house. Well worth the trip.

Moving more things around in the store. later on look for our new special section. I can not wait for it to be finished. You will definitely want to keep visiting us all summer.

More of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Scrapbooker. That summer campaign is really neat. Let me explain some. Rainy Days always get me.......

Nope not down, but inspired. These are the perfect days to run to the scrap store pick up some neat papers and make the layout of the year. Something about the mellow sounds of rain and and that fresh scent. Makes you want to create.

We have new things in so come walk around and pick out a few goodies for this weekends stash. You will need your graduation paper as well as those late minute spring to summer pages. We have a really good variety. We have room in our free crop this weekend, so come on in. Reserve a space if it is more than 3. Great time to scrap, eat and be creative.

Get your bags packed

Come journey with the the Sisterhood of the Traveling Scrapbookers. It is a real cool group of stores that has gotten together to do something really, really, fun this summer for you! Can't give out the details yet but you definitely will want to participate. Had our first meeting together (first in person) we talk EVERYDAY on the phone and we have some cool things in store for you this summer. You definitely don't want to miss out. Remembering....

Seems like that is what has happened for the past few weeks for me. Remembering all the great moments in my life. My college roommate coming back and bringing back a picture of the us all together, (I had two roommates and I went to school in the 80's just think of the big hair and the gold add a beads!LOL) Scrap Etc happy moments and now Memorial Day. I am lucky. My grandfather, my dad and my husband all were in or still in the military. I don't have to lay a reef or visit a cemetery because they have died in combat on Memorial Day. None did. But their are millions of people who do and on Monday I want all of us just to say a little pray for all those that have died for our freedom and are still fighting to keep us safe. 

Let's truly remember what Memorial Day is all about. Thanks. 

It just makes me happy knowing that you appreciate what my family and countless others have done for us.

Today is VIC and since we are remembering and our slogan is the art of remembering, let's stick with that.

Remember when you could buy paper almost all the time pretty reasonable-$.69 or lower a sheet. Well today you can buy all Prima, My Mind's Eye, SassaFrass, SEI, and American Crafts at 50% off. Yep, let's remember a little bit! LOL That, a long with the regular sale is putting most of our paper on sale. I would make a little b-line to the store.  Might not happen again till the anniversary. Shhh don't tell my partners. I write this in the early morning before they even think about getting up!

Small but good

The class was small but FANTASTIC! We have people ready for next quarter's Scrap Chic Academy class. The album class was a great success and Myra-ya'll is the bomb. I am telling you. You want to take one of her classes. You will see her nationally some day and regret that you missed the opportunity. She designed this album so wonderfully. Sign up for the next one. She's already working on it. Thanks for a job well done Myra.

Small changes are being made at the store and I am excited about that. So much we want done to make your experience that much better.

The stamp card club met Sunday and the cards were out of this world. I can not believe how they do that. It is like you only have four inches or so. How do you make that as gorgeous as they do. They are some really talented womenn.

Store will open late today. I have to make a run to the B-ham to get some of those changes I keep talking about. Around 12:30ish. Pls let your friends know. Only today. Give Robin some love.

Memorial Day crop still on. Free. Just bring something to share to eat. Grillin and chillin and I am gonna crop!!!!!!! Yep I have two little albums for grad presents needed of course by when- SSaturday night but I'll do it. After store stuff, cheerleading practice, writing of the weekly paper, acustom album and maybe a little sleep.LOL

Changes of the Heart

It has really hit me hard. Yep, the closing of Scrap Etc has set off something in my heart that has been saddened deeply. It wasn't my store but it was my "scrapping home". It was the place that I found like minded friends and enjoyed the trials and tribulations of life. Memories, that is what it is all about. Scrap booking is the collection of those memories. Scrap Etc will always hold fond memories.

It was the place that

taught me how to truly mix patterned paper and mix friends

 the place that

allowed a woman who never had baby to enjoy the lives of several babies just like they were her own caring, sharing and even allowing serious suggestions fornames (Virginia maybe this time I can get Grisham LOL)

the place that

gave me the opportunity to improve my spirituality, attending church with Pastor Bruce (Monique's father) was truly great, he taught me to see myself in a different light

the place that

introduced me to Molly-dry witted and hilarious, Shelley sweet and so laid back, GMAC a scrap booking diva (not to mention the best runner on the planet), Christine quiet, sweet, and full of great advice, Adrienne, lord she'll find her fave hobby soon LOL, Raunda like my best friend of all time, Vanessa and Savannah both beautiful and talented (they are TRUE southern belles) Katie just so darn fun, Britney the college student with a flair to scrap, Joann the most giving person on this planet and so many more that touched my life forever there just isn't room to name them all

the place that

one could call home- your scrapping home

I'll miss that. I'll miss Ms. Gila (Monique's mom) sharing her proud moments of her son's graduation or Lori and the crew having Christmas scrap dinner around the corner. So much in my life was related to Scrap Etc. I convinced Laetitia and Kelly on several occasions to come to B-ham to store to see and feel what I did. That is just how much I loved it. I am truly sad.

What does this have to do with Scrap Chic? Well that feeling, that home feeling like you belong-that is feeling that I want for our store. So big changes are in store.(no pun intended LOL) My heart feels better knowing that there will be a little piece of "scrapping home" here in Atlanta. I want our customers to feel the way I do right now about our store. I want them to leave with fond memories and someplace to call their "scrapping home".

To do that there will be change. Good change, heart felt change, wonderful change. Get ready.

Sad News

Received word that one of my favorite scrapbook stores is closing. Scrap Etc.I can not believe it. It was only yesterday when I was running around with Monique's girls playing or taking Katie's Jason for a roll on the floor, helping my fave Birmingham customers with their purchases and having the the time of my life with the designers. That store was the reason that I wanted to open my own. It's sad. Give Lucy a call and let her know how much we will miss her.

We still have a few spaces for this weekend. I am getting excited about it. You must really not miss this one. Miss mine. Myra's don't miss. She puts so much into her classes. You will love it.

The month is flying by. I put out the new Scenic Route yesterday and some great Teacher's Pet by Imgainece. make sure you come by and check it out.

Thinking about having a Memorial Day party. Anybody game? Free crop, bring a dish we can cook on grill and just crop away. Just let me know if you want to attend. What about Saturday. yep. Nothing really special.

Scrap Chic Academy

Lots of questions about this weekends album class. I definitely want them answered because you guys will not want to miss this class.

The class is set up similar to a CKU-album class, where you get prompts, paper, album, etc to complete a 20 page book. This class is entitled "My Composition". It is all about you! The person behind the camera, the person that does all the scrapping, the person who rarely even sees herself in an album.

You will receive patterned paper, cardstock, embellishments, and of course the album. Each page has a prompt that tells something about you. For example the picture below talks about style. Your style. There would be a picture for every prompt. Each page tells more and more about the great person behind the album. This is chance for you to make something that reflects you. Cool huh.

The class will be Saturday from 10-2 and Sunday 1-5. You can stay and crop after wards. That way if you want to add more you can. If you have other projects to finish, you can.  The cost is $50. Now once you see all the prep work that goes into the album you will be glad that you took the class from us. It has a ton of stuff. Seriously. You will also get written directions in case you want to recreate the album again. Now that is well worth it right there. You will have a bit of homework to guide you on which pictures to bring so that you can complete all in one day.

If you were to take a similar class at CKU or any other convention, it would cost way, way, way more and the teacher would not be as great as Myra! So call today and sign up. I promise it will be money well spent.

Today is lunchtime love and I have the cutest project for you quickie people. The pictures after the album are the start and finish of a wall hangimg that is so fun to make. It takes ribbon, wooden wall plaque, paint and some die cuts and paper. And you will create the cutest wall hanging. Now you will have your choice of paper, paint and embellishments so you can customize to your liking. All this for $5. Come in today and complete it in a short time.It was fun to do.

What a lovely weekend

Mother's Day was wonderful!!!!! I really enjoyed the in laws. We had a lovely catered dinner. Did a little strawberry picking, scrapbook shopping and raiding of Wolf camera. Enjoyed every minute. Missed the hubby but his flowers and call made up for it. Hope you all had a wonderful day also.
